DPMI (Dos Protected Mode Interface) is a technique to allow the Dos
operating system (which is 16 bit) to run 32-Bit software. Linux
is a true 32 bit OS (on a x86 PC, anyway) and therefore does not
require DPMI or similar crutches. One thing less to take care off...
