Better still, what about one ZIP file? Put all the relevant .ZIP files
inside a single ZIP file, and that is all that the user needs to
download.

Sounds okay to me. I planned to write an install script to be
used with my installer (with a free registration given to the
GPC team for the purpose of providing and installation
routine for GPC distribution). I am still willing to do this - so
(Peter and/or Jan-Jaap) if or when you need this, just drop 
me a note!
