I'd think the direct push is also faster on a 386/486, isn't it?
(As I said in another mail, I couldn't check it myself.)

Do you know who one could report this problem to, and ask about the
backend in general (newsgroups, addresses)? There's another issue
(concerning our planned OOP-interface implementation) that I'd like
to ask someone about.
